This is the website for the St Ives Birders. If you've stumbled across this site because you want to know where to find the best pasties in St Ives; or you want to complain about the horrendous parking during the summer; or you want to be shown the dolphins at precisely 11:30 because you have lunch booked at 12:00, then you've come to the wrong place. We'd suggest Makers for the pasties (Google it, kidz), the council for all your parking needs; and, unfortunately, despite copious amounts of fish, the dolphins refuse to negotiate on performance times - and we've just run out of fish. So, you know, you might have to ... er ... be patient and wait around for a bit and the dolphins usually swim past at some point. But, yeah ... we know ... Wait!? Patience??!! Blimey ...
On the otherhand if you want to know about where to go birding around St Ives, and you'd like to know what has been seen, and what is likely to be seen, and more importantly what we'd like to be seen and who we are and stuff like that - then, hey! - you HAVE come to the right place!
It's here that we post updates, summaries, blogs, general ramblings, various tangential wafflings and maybe, every now and then, interesting stuff about birds. We hereby promise to do that as often as we can. It won't be daily (you'll be pleased to know) but if we do see "good stuff" then you'll see it here within a day or so. If you're really interested in up to the minute rare birds news, you can get that elsewhere. But, if you're visiting for a few days and you'd like to join the St Ives Birders Whatsapp group while you're here, and you'd like to be bombarded with messages about how excited we all are to see a Reed Bunting* - send us an email, introduce yourself, with your phone number and we'll add you in.
And with all that said, welcome to our website!
* Other common passerines that are not seen often in the St Ives area are also available. If you DO see a Reed Bunting, DO please let us know ...
